the snow took it time to commend to the area. when it finally arrived, it did not stick around long. take a look at kids having a good time playing in this note earlier today. the first sign of snowfall did not touch down until the late morning leaving a dusting in many areas. it left measurable snow fall in some counties. most of that melted by the afternoon. crews were out all morning for the third weather event of the week. snow removal crews were on standby waiting for this note to a rise. -- for the snow to arrive. >> it is one of those things no one can predict 100%. we're hoping it goes well and everyone stays safe. >> every storm is different. you can never count on a single type. >> if you are planning to drive tonight or in the morning,

with the string of burglaries. police say the 28-year-old is suspected in a burglary on december 21 when a woman found her truck outside of her home. police say he threw her jewelry as he fled. they have length him to 3 other. raced -- they have connected him to 3 other burglaries. baltimore city police investigating an early-morning shooting of a man in the northeast part of the city. around 2:30 this morning, officers responded to the report of a gunshot. when they arrived, they found the 38-year-old man had been shot in the arm. the victim was taken of the house bill to be treated. no word on his condition. today is the fourth day of kwanzaa. the museum celebrated by holding a family fun day. the celebration included an african marketplace, craft

>> prosecutors say a woman has been charged with murder as a hate crime. police arrested menendez today after a passerby noticed she looked like the woman seen in this surveillance video. the spokeswoman for the district attorney says she told district attorney's she hates hidus and muslims. the victim was from india. his religion is not clear. on thursday, a woman pushed him onto the tracks. then they say she ran off. police in a small town are investigating whether a man with down syndrome was left alone on a bus for most of the day. for five years, he has been picked up by a bus and taken to the center that provides services for adults with disabilities. his mother says he never made it into the building yesterday. she says the staff told her he

was accidentally left in the van for eight hours. >> i am having a hard time holding my tears back. he cannot even tell me what he was doing during that time, what he was thinking. he cannot even explain his frustration. he says he could not get out. >> she says this is not the first time her son has been left on board. the center says the driver will be disciplined. >> former president george h. w. bush is out of intensive care. a family spokesperson says his condition continues to improve. mr. bush is in a regular hospital room at methodist hospital in houston. he has been there since november 23 been treated for bronchitis. the red cross says it had a busy year. the agency responded to 113 large-scale disasters through december 1. that works out to the response somewhere every nine minutes. the red cross opened more than 900 shelters for more than

>> now the forecast with meteorologist tony pann. >> the winter weather advisories have been cancelled. the map is lit up in the northeast part of the country. our little snowstorm has turned into a big snowstorm in the northeast part of the country. several inches of snow around boston already. they will pick up close to a foot in connecticut, massachusetts, in the higher terrain. the storm exploded when it got past baltimore. we got clipped by it as it was developing offshore. precipitation was held off several hours for us. that kept the amounts down significantly. we did not start the snow until 10:00 in the area when we expected it to come in at 4:00. that cut back on the totals. the skies are clearing. the wind is picking up. it will be a breezy night. the breeze will stay with us through tomorrow.
